Blog Activity for the 1Q 2014

I thought you might find it interesting what folks are interested in reading about process related topics on my blog. It is interesting to me to see what gets hit the hardest, so I can plan future postings for you. First are the top ten blog posts to date.  The up and coming subjects were around delighting customers, machine intelligence and big processes. 

Next are the hot topics in the last 30 days as shown below, but notice the interest in bpmNext, the digital organization, smart processes and collaboration. The surprise for me was the art projects. 

Where in the world are the hits coming from?  The US is always number one by a wide margin and is not shown here. There is no surprise that UK and Germany are at the top, but I am surprised that Japan is much lower than I expected. France and India seem to be coming up higher than in the past.

This quarter was mostly about experimentation, so I tried a bunch of new things. If you like any of it, let me know. I completed three paintings. One was created with Alcohol Inks. Another was an attempt to try glow in the dark paint over Acrylic and the last one was alcohol interacting with Acrylic. Some interesting results from my perspective.

Art for 2Q 2016

This quarter was mostly about experimentation, so I tried a bunch of new things. If you like any of it, let me know. I completed three paintings. One was for my friends that celebrated Passover 2016 and the other two were my first attempts with liquid acrylic paints. They are quite different for me in that my usual works are done in oil or water color. I also tried some 3D fractals as well as some of my typical fractals. I hope a few of these please your eyes :)  If not, maybe my art web sites might appeal.  "Purple Royalty"  placed in Art Takes Times Square 2016.

This quarter was more about customer satisfaction rather than trying new art methods. I had a commission piece that ended up being a Christmas gift for a biker buddy of mine from his significant other. Also I managed to sell a few other pieces, so I now can buy more art supplies :)  I did manage to create a couple of new 3D fractals that I hope you enjoy.

Art for 1Q 2018

After moving away from people portraits and creature paintings for a bit, I'm back at it this quarter with my turtle painting. This time trying something very detailed with acrylics (I usually use oil paint for these kinds of paintings).  I have no name for the turtle yet, so I would like some suggestions please :)  I have a couple of new fractals for your viewing pleasure as well. www.james-sinur.com

AI Report Card for 1Q 2020

While AI is in its spring season and is sprouting up all over and the predictions for future revenues are pretty positive, I think it’s time to try and give AI an early grade in a number of areas. I’ve picked out my top 10 categories for grading AI and have assigned a grade. In order to understand the context of the grades, I have included a difficulty score and an expected time to maturity. This is my first cut at grading AI and I’m sure I will add to the dimensions and scale over time.  Let’s examine the meaning of the grade categories listed below:

Focused Problems

AI has done well in scoped problems that are after a silo problem. This helps see clearly the results of AI even if it is a complex problem domain. Over time AI will increase its scope.  

Embedded Everywhere

AI is often supporting a number of solutions and technology combinations through embedding itself. This brings an aura of intelligence to the solutions, so this is growing fast.

Hidden Complexity

AI is good at black-box behavior by putting a buffer between the user/uses and the complexity of the problem it supports.

Analytically Oriented

AI is a bit about problem-solving today rather than creation or judgment, but this is a less risky approach to establish a baseline of success.

Creatively/Judgement Oriented

Being able to create something or judge a situation trough iteration and inspection while including new sources of inspiration is something that AI is just starting to do.

Planning/Predictive Orientated

The ability to look forward and project future expected outcomes of even plan alternative scenarios is something that is just emerging in AI.

On the Edge

AI is just starting to be distributed and being put closer to where it is needed. Distributed, just in time intelligence will grow significantly over time.

Explainable

Can the application of A and it’s behavior be explained to humans or even other AI capabilities? This is a must to gather confidence in going forward. AI is headed there, but it isn’t easy yet for the most part.

Autonomous

Giving AI the freedom level to act alone in an unsupervised fashion is somewhat new and will require goal orientation plus constraints via guardrails for proper governance.

Integrated/Cross Context Problems

AI that senses, orients, decides, and acts across multiple problems domains and contexts is coming. For now there a few examples that have been completely successful yet. Self-driving vehicles are headed there.

Net; Net:

AI has some growing to do before it will bloom fully. The best progress has been on focused machine learning opportunities and is quite often combined with other algorithms. Without getting into singularity issues, I think the future of AI assisting and collaborating with organizations and individuals is quite bright. I will be looking forward to the next grading period.

I hope you and yours are safe and healthy during these pandemic days. I delivered on a promise to my Grandson and painted Kale a dragon that we kind of designed on our last visit to Austin before Christmas. It was a fun piece to do even though there is a bit of a sinister feel to it. I also completed a couple more fractals for you to see. Blog Activity for 1Q 2017

The topics of interest in this quarter were around Cognitive Processes, the Digital Business Platform, Modeling in the Digital World, Cognitive, and IoT. The monthly totals are hovering over 10K hits even with a cut back of posts on my part because of work load balancing. I am heads down working on a Customer Journey Mapping rating. While my readership is world wide, the US dominates the hit count. You might find it interesting what the rest of the world is doing the chart below.
